The University of Amsterdam has its origins in the Athenaeum Illustre (1632) and, with over 30,000 students, over 5,000 employees and an annual budget of 600 million euros, is one of the largest general research universities in Europe.

Restricted Programs and other academic requirements:
The current curriculum is comprised of over 100 international study programmes. English-taught courses are available in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Psychology, Business and Economics, Law, Natural Sciences, Educational Sciences, Future Planet Studies, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Geography, and Planning and Development Studies. Students cannot take courses in Medicine and Dentistry

Students should have at least two years of academic education, a grade point average of 3.0 (US system) and show a relevant academic background in the proposed field of study.
