ABOUT COURSE

1 Credit =One hour of instruction or two to three hours of lab work per week
1 Course = Mostly single-term courses are equivalent to 3 credits
Minimum course enrolment for exchange students: Regular course load is 15 credits per semester; full-time definition for immigration status purpose is 9 credits per semester.
Maximum course enrolment for exchange students: 18 credits per semester; students who want to exceed the regular course load of 15 credits per semester will need our advisor’s approval.

1)Architecture -Statement explaining your interest in the discipline of architecture and UBC’s School of Architecture
-Curriculum Vitae (resumé)
-Two letters of reference
-Portfolio (a representative sample of undergraduate or graduate level architecture course work)
-TOEFL score of 100 (Internet-based)
2)Landscape Architecture: A portfolio of your design work is required for admission
3)Education: If you want to participate in a teaching practicum, a criminal record check (from your local police authority) is mandatory. This requirement is the result of British Columbia legislation that requires a review of all candidates who will be working with children.
4)Music: A DVD or VHS audition tape. Please email music.advisor@ubc.caif you have questions about the audition tape.
5)Visual Arts : A portfolio (CD or slides) of your work in the areas you would like to take courses (e.g., sculpture, painting).

DAILY LIFE

1. INSURANCE

All inbound exchange students are automatically enrolled in iMED Insurance; single-term exchange students will have the insurance for the entire exchange semester, and full-year students will have the insurance for the first three months. After the first three months, full-year exchange students will be covered by BC MSP, for which they need to apply as soon as they arrive in Vancouver
